In Loving Memory Of Legend

In loving memory of Legend, our beloved husky who touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. Legend was a true survivor, rescued from Tijuana and against all odds, lived a full and happy life in spite of his severe hip dysplasia, epilepsy and liver cancer diagnoses in Sept 2021.

Over the years, Legend proved to be a true legend indeed. He had a larger-than-life personality and was a friend to all. Legend was always up for an adventure, whether it was a hike in the woods or chasing squirrels at Dana Point Harbor. He was a faithful companion, a loyal friend, and a constant source of joy and comfort.
As Legend grew older, his spirit never dimmed. Even as his health declined, he remained brave and determined. He fought through his challenges with grace and dignity.
Legend may no longer be with us in physical form, but his spirit will always live on. We will never forget the joy he brought into our lives and the memories we shared with him. Rest in peace, dear Legend, and know that you will always be loved and remembered.

Thankful For Every Moment With Legend

Just wanted to give everyone an update on Legend. As of this week, it is 1 1/2 years that we have been fighting liver cancer and 6 months since the second massive hepatocellular tumor returned. We have tried twice to surgically remove the tumor and tried every possible treatment imaginable. We had been in contact with UC Davis about a new cancer procedure but due to Legend’s age (he is 14 1/2) and cancer metastasis he doesn’t qualify Still the regular vet visits, holistic treatments and nutritional supplements are helping. We have good days and hard days. We cry a lot and we feel incredible joy when something wonderful happens (he suddenly jumped on the couch!). Anyone who has loved an animal knows the pain of seeing them grow old and sick. For right now, Legend is holding his own. He is still going on two walks a day (albeit very slowly and short), engages with us, and has an amazing will to live. Recently a neighbor (who isn’t a dog owner) approached us and told us he was praying for Legend every day because he was so inspired by this elderly dog putting one foot in front of the other with such fortitude, despite all of his health issues. If you have an elderly or sick pet, taking them outside even just for five minutes can make their whole day. We thank you all so much from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support you have shown our beloved dog. We hope you can give your pets an extra hug today. Life is so short and our time with our pets is never long enough.

Legend Visits One Of California’s Crown Jewels

Mt. Whitney is the tallest mountain in CA and it’s surrounding areas have been featured in many of our greatest Western films. Our #cancerwarrior Legend, at 14 years old, led the way up the trail as the cool mountain air invigorated him. When he took his first steps, Legend stumbled on a few small boulders. But he kept going— slow and steady as we hiked on this magnificent wilderness trail. We had to turn him around about 40 minutes into the hike due to his age and health concerns, but he was still going strong. Over 7 weeks ago, we found out Legend had inoperable liver cancer (see his bare tummy). As the saying goes: The journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step.

It Might Be Scary... But Be Brave

Yesterday was a tough day for us. Legend’s liver cancer has returned and he went in to have the tumor removed. Unfortunately, the tumor was inoperable due to its location and there were new liver nodules present as well.

In spite of all we went through, we have no regrets. While it was terribly disappointing to get the news, at least we know where we stand (waiting for biopsy results) and now have the information we need to make the very best decisions for Legend going forward. We are very grateful to Legend’s dedicated holistic veterinarian Dr. David Gordon Arch Beach Veterinary Clinic who has been guiding us through this challenging journey. However scary it was to go through the tests and surgery, we still have time left to see what else we can do. Without those tests, we would just be hoping he was doing ok at 14 years of age.

We wanted to share our story because we hope it might give you courage to move forward with any lab tests that you might be considering for your senior pet. While no one likes to get bad news, when it comes to lab tests, we all must find the courage to BE BRAVE so we can do the best for our pets.

What Helped Murray?

In 2021, our sweet Murray was suddenly diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma and he had a tumor the size of a honey-dew melon in his abdomen! At age 12, we were told he might not be a candidate for surgery so we were mentally devastated. With an amazing medical team, the tumor (an entire lobe of his liver) and his gallbladder were successfully removed, and Murray is about to have his 13th birthday! In his recovery process, it was hard to determine the root cause of cancer, but tests identified that he has acute Pancreatitis and with his gallbladder also removed, we had to make significant adjustments to his diet! As I was researching his condition, I stumbled into the Ask Ariel website and felt like I found a miracle! Today Murray gets a blend of the K-9 Pancreatitis and Liver Kit as well as Gastro ULC. Overnight, his stool changed dramatically, and he has had more energy than he’d had in the past 2 years! I am so grateful for Ask Ariel’s products and also for the incredible team who always offers thoughtful feedback and support for Murray!! Thank you Ask Ariel!!

It's A Miracle: Beautiful Malamute Survives Liver Cancer

Willow

"Willow had her follow up scan and bloodwork today......4 months after surgery and diagnosis.  I’m so overwhelmed with gratitude and emotion I couldn’t wait to email you.  Her ALT level is normal!  Her ALKP is barely elevated!  Most importantly......the growth that was on the underside of the liver that was inoperable, is gone!!!!!  They did multiple scans in all different ways trying to find the tumor and it’s not there.  They looked at everything on her and nothing.  Everything is perfectly normal and healthy and the doctors said that if they didn’t know the history they would have questioned why they were even examining her.  She acts like a puppy and is so happy and energetic we almost can’t believe it.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  You are an absolute angel from God."

Dog Liver Cancer: Holistic Treatments Can Help

The liver is a major organ that helps to detoxify the body.  It is also the organ that carcinogens and toxic compounds pass through, which can be a factor in dogs developing liver cancer. In addition, similar to people, the liver can also be an organ into which a primary cancer (in another part of the body) can metastasize to, accelerating the spread of the cancer to other parts of the body. It is very hard to detect canine liver cancer in the early stages of the disease. Some of the initial signs may be abdominal pain, inappetance, excessive weight loss, or a mass in the abdomen may be felt by your veterinarian.  A definitive diagnosis of canine liver cancer can only be obtained when a liver biopsy is done.

In conjunction with conventional veterinary care, holistic care can be of help to your pet. Since the liver can regenerate new tissue, it is one of the few types of cancer, where we have seen especially good results in dogs.   Several of our clients have sent us testimonials about their dogs living far longer than prognosis, even with large masses, using a holistic approach, along with their veterinarian's recommendations.

"Thrilled to have had ONE additional year...IN January 2*0*1*2, I was informed that my girl, GRETA who is closest to me, sleeps by my side, accompanies me most anywhere, etc had TWO to FOUR weeks to live at the most..I was told she had inoperable liver cancer that had already spread to her lungs and was quite widespread.   Click here to view full testimonial

Teddy's Testimonial- Canine Liver Cancer

Canine Liver Cancer

In April 2008, our 10-year-old dog, Teddy, a Chow Chow rescue, was diagnosed with a liver tumor. Our vet did not know if it was cancer at the time. As Teddy’s tumor grew, he was able to be tested, and cancer was confirmed. We were told he was too old for conventional treatment and, as his cancer progressed, to simply keep him comfortable. The vet had no hope for his recovery from canine liver cancer.

Our family decided to treat Teddy’s liver cancer condition with a holistic approach. We found Susan Davis through her website. We scheduled a phone consult, and the surprising results began. Susan customized a diet and supplement plan for Teddy, and we saw a marked difference in just two weeks. His overall health continued to improve.

We chose to have Teddy living with canine cancer instead of dying with cancer. He lost his brave battle on January 8, 2010. Teddy’s vet felt it was a miracle that he survived for so long. Our family knows that it was a miracle, thanks to Susan. We were blessed to have found her. She made it possible for us to have extended time with our wonderful Teddy.

Susan and her team are professional, well-informed, caring, and most responsive. The ability to consult with Susan by phone and e-mail is extremely convenient. We highly recommend her services, particularly when pets are young, to start them off on a healthy, all-natural diet.
